Monk Mountain Weekend

William's parents invited us up to their cabin for the weekend. We enjoyed a great lunch at The Wildflower Cafe in Mentone, AL. http://www.mentonewildflower.com/index.html  In the afternoon, we hiked to the waterfall near their cabin.  Thompson loved hiking or riding on Daddy's back. The camp fire was a perfect welcome to Fall. We made some yummy smores (my favorite camping tradition) and then played a game of hearts. Sunday, the weather was spectacular and we hiked around Desoto Falls.

Birthday Party Two

Yesterday, we celebrated Thompson’s birthday with friends. We enjoyed cake and ice-cream and some presents too! His great-grandmother made his birthday cake and Thompson devoured it. We love our friends and it was wonderful to celebrate with them. After the party, Granmom stayed so I could drive William to the airport for his business trip. She put him to bed and read him stories. We’re glad his grandparents are close by.

The GT hat Jacob and Becca gave him:

Birthday Party One

Thompson had two 1st birthday parties. The first party was mainly family. Uncle Thomas and McCord drove all the way to come (Uncle Trevor had an interview at NYU and got the job…Go Trevor). Aunt Mary Beth flew in from NC! T-Lo & Pop & Hoppop and Granmom & Granddad were there. He had many great-aunts, uncles and cousins there! Drew even drove up from Birmingham; The Cascios and Mr. Stephen came from Charlotte! It was loads of fun! Thanks to everyone who made his day so special and for the gifts…y’all did too much! We are so blessed to have you in our lives. We love you!

Fall=Football

Football is a deep tradition in the south. On Labor Day weekend, we attended the Georgia Tech vs. Jacksonville State game. The tailgate and game were lots of fun. My parents came down for Thompson’s birthday party and watched him all day Saturday. They even cooked and cleaned for the party…yes…they’re the best!

Thursday, Thompson went to his first tailgate of the 2009 Season. GT beat Clemson!

After the tailgate, we heard Aunt Sue and Cousin Ann speak on their new book. See their websites: http://www.suemonkkidd.com/ AND http://www.annkiddtaylor.com/
They did a great job and I can't wait to read the book. We ate a late dinner with William's parents, grandparents and aunt Ann. Thanks to Chris and Marijane (our pastor and his wife) who watched Thompson during their talk.

We look forward to more tailgates at the KA house and even more victories! GO JACKETS!

Family From Portland.

Micah, Bobbi Jo and their son, Jonus, spent 4 days with us. They are expecting their daughter in late October. They tried their first Chick-Fil-A! We visited Georgia Tech and purchased some goodies at the bookstore. Then we grabbed lunch at the Varsity. The boys loved the Aquarium. The Coke museum was the final stop.
The time together was very enjoyable and many memories were made. Jonus and Thompson played so well together. We can’t wait to out west to visit.

Jonus gave Thompson a Superman T-shirt for his birthday! They have matching ones!
